]]>Perth Playback Theatre Company has been operating for 37 years and is one of the most established playback theatre companies in the world. Playback Theatre was founded in 1975 by New York area artists Jonathan Fox and Jo Salas and has evolved into an interactive, improv-based storytelling form that is practiced in 50 countries with training centers and affiliates all over the world.
“I went to several Perth Playback Theatre sessions during the Perth Festival. I enjoyed the quick and spontaneous way that the group interpreted the stories presented by the audience. In just a few moments, without any discussion, they presented a little vignette that was interesting and thought provoking and the amazing thing was the group worked as a whole and were not fragmented. It is ingenious.”
Sue M.
Performances are based on audience members’ own stories, and unfold spontaneously through music, movement, and audience participation.
Perth Playback Theatre’s work with organisations and communities includes:
Interactive performances
Leadership Team building events
Scenario and Role Playing for Human Resource Development
Facilitating reflection
Creating connection
Celebrating success
Supporting conflict management
Supporting change management
Our actors, facilitators and musicians are trained in the specialised art of Playback Theatre. We come from all walks of life; our backgrounds include professional performers, teachers, drama therapists, counsellors, health professionals, musicians, choreographers, foster carers, radio presenters, artists, film makers and life coaches. That wide realm of experience enhances our work on stage as it helps us to understand and engage with all the stories the audience brings.
We work with schools, community groups, corporates, not-for-profits, government departments to offer a tailored approach to meet the needs of the clients

]]>The post LESMURDIE CLUB appeared first on All We Need Is Right Here.
]]>Lesmurdie Club had its beginnings in the late 1950s when a dedicated group of mainly Italian orchardists and timber industry people used to gather at the old Lesmurdie Sawmill in Canning Road (now the site of the Church of Christ) to play bocce, socialise and maintain close ties with their fellow countrymen. A bocce court had been constructed from old railway sleepers.
The sawmilling operations transferred to Pickering Brook in 1962 and it was decided to form a club at the vacated Lesmurdie Sawmill and surrounding orchard lease. A meeting was called and a steering committee formed.
The original name was the Lesmurdie Agricultural Club. It was felt this name reflected the nature of the Club as a place to meet and socialise for the whole community.
The Club commenced trading at the Canning Road site on a temporary licensing permit and an official licence was granted by the Liquor Licensing Court in December 1963. The licence fee was assessed on trading from the previous two months.
The Club traded at this site for the next 14 years but experienced financial difficulties for most of this time.
In 1975 it was decided to purchase the current site in Boronia Road. It was felt that a new Club was a better option than continuing in rented premises which were in dire need of repair. It was at this time that the name Lesmurdie Club was adopted.
The Shire of Kalamunda refused to fund the Club in any way as it claimed the Club’s then poor financial record was not an attractive vehicle for Shire assistance even though the Kalamunda and Pickering Brook Clubs were both being assisted by low-interest-bearing Shire loans.
The purchase price of the 1.5 acre Boronia Road site, which was Railway Reserve vested with the Crown, was $12,000. The Club was able to secure a $40,000 bank loan and a further $7,000 in debentures from about 120 members for construction of the new premises.
Lesmurdie Club moved into its new premises in May 1977. The Club was an immediate success and membership increased dramatically.
The Club was incorporated as Lesmurdie Club Inc in May 1981.
Extensive renovations and upgrades have been carried out between 1995 and 2003 and since, Lesmurdie Club has secured adjoining land to expand its amenities and facilities in its ongoing commitment to maintain its reputation as “The Ultimate Hills Social Club”.
Today, Lesmurdie Club is continuing its ongoing program of improving facilities for the benefit of members with planning well advanced for additional dining sections and family-friendly areas to encourage the community to make Lesmurdie Club the home base for social life. The acquisition of additional land will allow for controlled and sensible development in an expanded premises.

]]>Noticeboard:
Memberships range from $24 concession to $60 family per year
Plot rental is $150 per year (plots are irrigated)
Our story begins in March 2011
After 2 years of meetings, applications and development of the management plan, the Shire of Kalamunda presented us with a grant and access to the grounds of the historic Headingly House at 8 Lindsay St in Kalamunda.
In April 2013, the circular paved area that we use for most of the talks and workshops was a weed covered rubbish pile and the site was largely long grass.
By October 2013, garden beds were built, paving of the central area was done and planting was well underway.
Over the last year the garden has hosted a diverse series of workshops including:
building a frog pond, edible weeds, growing and maintaining fruit trees, landscape reticulation and lawn tips, worm farms and herbal teas. The plans for the next 12 months include development of a children’s area, propagation area, and construction of an all weather structure over the paved workshop area.
come join us as a member, help in the garden and meet like minded locals.
