Kalamunda National Park is 375 hectares of native bush and is well known for its diversity of native plants and birdlife. There are also plenty of native animals including kangaroos, bandicoots and echidnas. Plant species include jarrah, marri, wandoo and butter gum. The best time to visit the Park is August – November (late winter / Springtime) when the plants of the understorey flower profusely. Kalamunda National Park is home to some extremely rare plant species which exist nowhere else. Visitors can access the Kalamunda National Park at Spring, Fern or Schipp Roads, where they will find car park areas. From these points the walk trails through the park are accessible. The other access option is to enter through either Beelu National Park or Jorgensen Reserve. Beelu National Park is to the north, and is where walkers will find the northern entrance to the bridle track which crosses the park. Kalamunda National Park is also where the famous Bibbulmun Track starts (the Northern Terminus is located on the roundabout at the start of Mundaring Weir Road), and then winds 1,000 kilometres south to Albany. The Bibbulmun Track is rated as one of Australia’s best hiking trails. Piesse Brook flows through the park before joining the Helena River, making the park and important catchment area for both the Helena and the Swan River. Piesse Brook Walk Trail, also within Kalamunda National Park is a very picturesque and popular walk.

The Kalamunda circuit is 22 kilometre single track trail which forms a mountain biking loop around Paulls Valley and Hacketts Gully. Based on the International Mountain Bike Association’s grading for trail difficulty, the trail is a blue square trail with black diamond technical trail features. The trail is designed for intermediate to advanced XC riding with log rides, log roll over’s, jumps, rock gardens, ladders, drop offs and lots of single track riding. There can be unavoidable obstacles up to 400mm high. All obstacles bigger than the blue rating will have B lines such as jumps and black diamond technical trail features. Although nominally a dual direction trail, most riders seem to agree that it is better ridden in a clockwise direction. None of the climbs are too steep or arduous and there are lots of fun swoopy bermed downhills. The trail is fully signposted. The Kalamunda Circuit is the result of a community project that is a partnership between the Department of Environment and Conservation (now known as the Department of Parks and Wildlife), Lotterywest, the Department of Sport and Recreation, the West Australian Mountain Bike Association and the mountain bike community. The partnership has resulted in a 22 kilometre mountain bike trail that is sustainable, low maintenance and has a low environmental impact. There are car parks on Mundaring Weir Road (at the western end) and at The Dell (at the eastern end). Alternatively a popular place to park is the Calamunnda Camel Farm on Paulls Valley Road, who welcome mountain bikers. The Kalamunda Circuit also connects with the Munda Biddi Trail.
Facilities available at the Calamunnda Camel Farm and The Dell.

Between Barber Street and Central Mall, Kalamunda, 6076
The square is on three levels interconnected by smooth paved pathways, suitable for wheelchairs. At the upper end is the Kalamunda KADS theatre which was originally built as the first Anglican Church in Kalamunda, and was used as the Ambulance Hall for many years.
Every Saturday there is a local market held in the square. The small Community Hall can be hired for functions.
